Had a bit of fun today. Installed Turbo C on dosbox and ported a very simple ray tracer I've written in the past to DOS (16bit).

For the video output I wrote a bit of code to setup mode-X (320x240 8bpp) and a terrible color quantization routine.

In the bad-old days I used to write graphics code solely on mode 13h, mode-x is much nicer-looking. Thanks to M. Abrash for introducing it, and to FreeVGA ( http://www.osdever.net/FreeVGA/home.htm ) for the fantastic vga hardware reference.
