The Brecht Document details the life of German playwright and poet Bertolt Brecht and is composed of what its writer/director Warren Leming calls "fragments" from a two year stay in Berlin,Germany which Leming made in 1986/87. The work features narration by Leming; videography by David MacBryde, theatrical scenes directed by Leming, and music from a variety of sources. The documentary was broadcast on Public Television, and has been distributed in Europe. The documentary contains footage of Brecht's grave, and the Brecht archive in Berlin, in addition to filmed interviews made in and shortly before the demise of the German Democratic Republic (DDR). The cast included Astrid and Pavel Sacher (in Berlin) and Beau O'Reilly (in Chicago.)
