those fat chicks making that duck face look like duck-billed platypodes...

any chance he's a secret agent called perry the platypus!

genome sequence and analysis is widely use for identifying the genetic structure of a species.. Ironically, platypus is only one of a kind!

what is a genome? Google please..hehe.. I'm so dumb.

7:04 Dogs and Cows have a close common ancestor? The mouse evolved after the dog? T thought the mouse was one of the earliest mammals. Weird, am I reading this correctly

evolution FTW!

@Certifier7 monotremes are the last of the therapsids (the link between mammals and reptiles) and their genome is evidence of that link. They have a fair number of reptillian and proto-mammalian genes. What do you have against genetic evidence? You probably wouldn't want to know that you are only seperated from other apes by a fusion of the 2nd and 13th chromosome then ^_^ Monotremes are proto-mammals and humans are apes :)

(A) only if you don't know anatomy (it's a snout)
(B) thats because it is a mammal
(C) there are other mammals with webbed feet/hands and claws/nails.
(D) and?
(E) the poison is nothing like a snakes, it is composed of 250 separate chemicals with no necrotising effects.
The Platypus is a monotreme, look it up. There are only 5 known monotreme species, the others are echidnas. They are essentialy living transitionals between mammals and reptiles (though definetly well into the mammalian clade)
