I read the twilight books on a whim once then I read Salem's Lot and found it to be better beyond comparison. I agree with all the people saying a Salem's Lot type vampire to be the right kind of vampire! Like LukeBaily182 said, vampires are ruined thanks to twilight, there no longer creatures of the night for children to fear, there now things for girls to dream about and wish for, I mean what the fuck!

i agree, twilight is ridiculous. i mean, i'm not opposed to vamps being more human looking, but i am opposed to them not being dangerous, or bloodthirsty, and only concerned with falling in love with teenagers. I just finished this book, and it was AMAZING.

Can everyone STOP saying Stephenie Meyer's a whore? I'm not a Twi-hard, I just enjoy her writing and characters, and just because none of the haters here will ever be as successful as her doesn't mean you can bitch about her for the sake of it. I like Twilight. I like Salem's Lot. Vampires are just cool, can we not argue about the different versions?!?!?!?!?!??!

Well, there certainly is a powerful market for realistic vampires such as Mr. Barlow in the original Salem's Lot; because that's what people want to see. But the current state of affairs in Hollywood won't allow for it. They won't make a film today that dosen't have a political message about gender-confused little bi-sexual boys and "Justin Bieber" style vampires. It's just not politically correct. The independant studios will have to rise up and give the public what it wants. Hollyweird wont'!

The vamps in 30 Days of Night kick all other vamps asses, those motherfuckers are hardcore and would gladly floss the glitter out of their razor sharp shark like teeth after a healthy Twilight snack. Perfect killing machines, the dude even has to BE one to get RID of them. (I ignore the sequel and webisodes since they had no money.) And the only reason they would fight over a girl is which artery to slurp, notwho gets to date her! LMFAO

@MegaGoodoldtimes well, now, actually, this movie, DESPITE it's flaws and alterations, was still very good. I don't remember the original, but ish actually quite good.

@Johnlindsey289 I don't believe that Martin was a psycho though. I think that he really was a vampire after all as it's much more fun to me that way. But i do like untraditional types of vampires like the ones in Captain Kronos, The Hunger, Near Dark, Lifeforce, Sleepwalkers etc.

But do you love unconventional vampires of film? vampires that break the mould and show they aren't the same stereotype. I'm talking about ones that don't burn in the sunlight, vampires without fangs but sharp as blades teeth instead, space vampires, energy sucking vampires, essence sucking vampires, psychos who believe they are vampires, animal-like creatures that spawned vampire legends etc.? but no sparkling allowed right?
