  • This proves how sad American TV has become. This was broadcast on commercial ( not PBS) TV as a public service for the American Public. Imagine CBS, NBC, or ABC broadcasting a performance like this during primetime! The major networks have become cesspools of Paris Hilton wannbees, and the latest on Brittany Spears, YUCK! America, can we ever reclaim our souls??

  • 3 pianos concert is always fascinating. And its 1 family play together. Robert Casadesus, Gaby Casadesus, and Jean Casadesus. Very good performance by this "First Family of the Piano."

  • So nice to listen Robert Casadesus. He was incredible in the 26 and 27 mozart concertos for piano. He's great here with Bach!

  • Incredible pianissimo at 1:12

  • This is so awesome.

  • @mikeinkc I couldn't agree more. Television has weened it's viewers off of quality programming to complete junk (obviously to great logistical advantage, reality TV is infinitely cheaper to produce than an amazing performance like this.)

One has to ask the question: "does the general public get what it wants or does the public just end up wanting what is usually served to it?"

  • I remember this record. It was one of my irreplacables, something I would take to a desert island.

It still is, and this vid makes it even more precious.

  • @mikeinkc - so true, alas you depict a worldwide trend....

  • treasured and precious - to have any visual evidence of the 3 of them playing together. But I do wonder how Ormandy dealt with being in the black...

  • I remember that thing called tv, do people still watch that stuff? Major media is embarrasing, and the tv towers should immediately be switched over to internet towers.

  • i miss shows like this, fortunately i get the/a art channel that has classical performances on it all the time :D

  • Sadly Jean died in a car accident in 1972.
