A segment from Entertainment Tonight aired on January 4, 1993, called "The Women of Star Trek". It was "hosted" by Majel Barrett Roddenberry, dressed as Lwaxana Troi but portraying herself.

The segment includes comments from Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura from the original Star Trek), Nana Visitor (Major Kira Nerys from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi from Star Trek: The Next Generation), and includes clips from all 3 series with scenes including those I already mentioned plus Terry Farrell (Lt. Jadzia Dax from Deep Space Nine) and Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher from The Next Generation).

  • Just a few years after this was done Kate Mulgrew took command as Captian Kathryn Janeway.

  • @clouds5 Me too.

  • I just love every star trek show out there^^ hopless sci-fi fan :/

  • i miss the short skirts.......

  • @simplystreeptacular Oh, I think she knew well enough.

  • this is why i love janeway

  • And women ALSO oppress women--they do it all the time. Just look at the hurtful things they say about one another. They objectify and initiate force against each other on a daily basis, all the while reinforcing their own gender stereotypes. They are not angels anymore than men are.

  • @sondano The physical differences of gender in our species belies the fact that fundamentally, there is NO difference between men and women: that is to say, both are selfish, weak, deliberately self-deluded propagandists, perpetually inconsistent with their individual espoused ideals irrespective of what those ideals may be.

  • Quiet women men are talking! Make's sense then, make's sense now.

  • Thankfully, Majel lived to see VOYAGER.
