  • Mr. 71,

Would you please give me some good blues/country song that I could learn? I'm 16 and would love to get more inspiration. I've looked myself, but I can't really find any songs that inspire me more than the ones I've already learnt. All I want is more :)

    Cheers.

  • @OptoOcto Trust me, I'm a novice player. You might want to look into one of Joe's tab books that he has out. There are two of them: Joe Bonamassa "Play It Like It Is" and Joe Bonamassa "Blues Deluxe Tab Book". That would be a very good start for you. :)

  • You know, I 'd like to make a comment about this since I recorded it. I spoke with Joe two weeks ago and he felt bad about the negative comments on this video. Really, this was filmed after his guitar clinic and before his show at night. It was a spur of the moment thing and really, Joe and Dave Pate were about to leave when Carl, Tallan's dad, asked Joe to show him something. It was not intended to be a "lesson". Both Tallan and Joe are friends of mine and both are great, kind guys!

  • @Blues71 I think people are confused because they don't realize what Joe is doing. Joe is a busy man and he knows the affect that his virtuosity will have on Tallan's eager mind. Young kids don't get discouraged. This experience probably built so many more possibilities in Tallan's mind the average person couldn't comprehend. Tallan will be a great guitarist and Joe is speaking to him on their level. Don't expect the 'average' viewer to understand their connection. Lesson: Joe is inspiring him.

  • @yogithecamel Yogi, you hit the nail right on the head!! Tallan has always been a sponge with a thirst for knowledge. I've watched him watch other performers and then several months or a year down the road, he will incorporate something from that performer into his playing. Sometimes it's ever so subtle, but trust me, he never forgets! ;) He's now 11 years old and I saw him and his new band play this past Saturday night. I would have hated to follow him on the card that night! Tremendous!!!! ;)

  • I might add, so as not to confuse anyone, when this video was taken Tallan was only 9 years old.

  • I've known Tallan for a few years now. He studies hard in school as well as practices guitar. He's played with some of the greatest guitarists that I've seen including the great Joe Bonamassa. Maybe Tallan didn't understand everything, but he is like a little sponge and took what Joe told him and wil use it. I've seen him do that time and again. Please keep in mind he's only 10 years old now and also keep in mind that Joe is one of, if not THE, top players in the world today.Let's stay positive.

  • Gotta agree, amazing lesson from joe. What in the world is so bad about inspiring the kid?!? Negativity on this comment thread is ridiculous and like ppl already said - If you're a guitarist and you paid attention to this - YOU WALKED AWAY WITH NEW KNOWLEDGE!!!!

  • @OptoOcto *same as you ;D*

  • This kid has definitely been listening to some SRV. Good Lord.

  • What nice guy Joe is!

Ha ha, is that guitar like $26,981?

    WOAH!

  • OMB !!! what a great video! Tal will have this to watch & PRACTICE from. Even if he didn't "get it" @the time, he will be able to watch this over & over & over & pick up things as he grows as a Musician. Mr. Bonamassa is a very busy guy & Tal was in the right place @the right time to be able to have this happen. THANK YOU JOE for inspiring & teaching our young people !! :-)

  • is that an actual song he's taking the riff from at 4:23 or is it just a riff made up on the spot? anyone know?

  • When Joe plays, it looks like he suddenly grows two more fingers. Seven finger left hand.

  • @OptoOcto Check out Billy Joe Shaver with His son Eddy Tramp On Your Street Album and Live at old Smiths bar

  • @Blues71 Thanks, dude! I'll be sure to check em out.

    Thanks again.
