  • hey thats a great way to make the skirt of the dress thank!!

also do you use special scissors to cut the fabric and don't you hem the bottom?? or do you just be very neat.. hahah not excatly my strong point in fashion 0_o

    please write back!

  • hehe... I don't think it has anything to do with the scissors; it's the type of fabric you use and... how neat you are.

trust me, I ended up trimming the thing way more than I'd thought I would, but I think it's easier than hemming.

  • ok... you have natural flare !

I hope you go to College for fashion, you will do well !

  • oh thank you =]

actually, I'm thinking about going into design or something like it (probably dealing with web design) ... and that's pretty close!

  • HEyy, for the circle skirt part, how did you make the compuss thing. im trying to make a dress but have no idea how to make the compuss! please help me out.!

    xxx

  • I think I just used a ribbon or string or something that I measured to the right length. I safety pinned one end to the place where I would have the center, and held a pecil to the other end (or if you have a thick enough ribbon etc, cut a small slit and stick the pencil through)

It's kind of primitive, but it works as long as the cloth stays spread out enough.

  • I started sewing when I was 8 years old so its great to see you guys getting involved so young! A couple of pointers for you: use a table for cutting and to make a circle skirt out of one piece of fabric: as long as your fabric is big enough - fold it into quarters (or eighths) then you only have to draw a quarter (or eighth) circle for the hem and waist. And remember, cut the waist smaller in circumference to start with, you can always cut it larger after fitting but you can't make it smaller.

  • this was kind of funny .

  • Glad to see so young and so talented girl. And even better to see actually the making of a skirt even I didnt know this. Had been searching for a while. It's good when some not so perfect person does it cuz this way you get notice of the flaws of the process as well. Question is I wana make a full length skirt how do I make length longer of the circle even the widest cloth comes doesnt fit full length?

  • I love everything about this video - you are amazing!!! Do you live anywhere near NY and want to teach me how sew well o_o I seriously want to learn and you seem awesome : )

  • I have to say I've been looking for tutorials on how to make dresses and your's is the one that would work the best for me. All of the other ones require a mannequin or a dress form, but your's is easy and it's just the look I'm looking for.

  • Hmmm

  • that was lame!

  • i didn't see the drawing...

  • What is the measuring tool you used for tracing the donut shape called?? Please message me back.
