I want to learn how to make shoes so that I can make reproduction Victorian shoes. Where can I learn? Shoe making is a dying art yet someone obviously knows how to do it, it's a bit unfair to hoard all that knowledge and not offer it to others don't you think?

OK, this guy makes REALLY good shoes (the kind I haven't seen for forty-fifty years at any price). You ain't gonna learn advanced technique from watching a freaking video on YouTube! Take his class, ask for his recommendation of nearby people to apprentice yourself to, or quit whining and learn what you can - namely, how to recognize good old-fashioned craftsmanship when you buy his shoes. I had been wondering why shoes suck nowadays - compare this to "Prada factory" videos & you'll see why.

I want to try to replicate a certain shoe, what thickness/type of leather is best?

It seems calfskin is the general consensus, but what do you use?
