Because velociraptors are pack hunters, you see, , he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today. And he slashes at you with this... a six-inch retractable claw, like a razor, on the the middle toe. He doesn't bother to bite your jugular like a lion, say... no no. He slashes at you here... or here... or maybe across the belly, spilling your intestines. The point is... you are alive when they start to eat you. So you know... try to show a little respect.

actually the velociraptor here is a bit smaller than the utahraptor,

but ALOT larger than the actual velociraptor,

just in between i'd say.

yeah, it's kinda messed up, but if one reads "Raptor Red" even more is explained,

the whole movie's dinosaurs' "accurate" thing was pretty much hush-hush untill the movie was released and jack horner said "YEAH!"

the only reason jurassic park raptors are called velociraptors is because steven knew that deinonychus didnt seem terrifying. velociraptor was more catchy and was a terrifying name to use.

@HumanPietBox I think I've read on the TCG that Spielberg wished the Velociraptors to be taller and just at that time they had discovered the Utharaptor, kind of the big brother of Velociraptor, so Spielberg felt alright with using this size.

Seen with todays knowledge, the Raptors of JP1+2 realy do look pretty exactly like Deinonychus. (those in JP3 have the real V.Rap skull, though they are still too huge)
