Experiences in which the senses are intermingled in usual ways are a common motif in the descriptions that mystics provide of their unordinary sensory experiences. This workshop examines the phenomenon of synaesthesia from a multi-disciplinary perspective in order to advance our understanding of the relationship between synaesthesia, metaphor, creativity, and religious and artistic practices. Ha, the only thing that really related to the "mystical traditions" written in the title was his very last sentence... Which probably was one of the best in the whole lecture. But I kinda expected him to talk about mysticism, that would have been very interesting to have his take on that as a neurologist.

@xavierpaquin Well, pherharps graphic representation (letters) is also connected to the sound. Also, you would probably get the same results of Arabians or Koreans, who use different writing.
