Chapter 4:
"Ah," Joe sighed in relief. "Sweet satisfaction."
"I hope you're happy, Joe," Kevin crossed his arms. "I paid for that meal of yours."
"Well, you got it easy, Kev," Nick reminded sharply, "I had to pay for all the clothes we bought."
"It's your fault, Nick," Joe argued.
"Is it my fault that I lost in a game of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors?'"
"No," Kevin smirked, "It's your fault for being so predictable."
"Yeah," Joe agreed, "You always pick 'Rock.' All of us know that."
"It's called STRATEGY," Nick defended. "'Rock,' is the strongest. It can smash things. In fact, I don't see why something as weak as 'Paper' could defeat 'Rock.'"
"It's because 'Paper' covers 'Rock,' Nick. EVERYONE knows that," Kevin said.
"But think about it, Kev," Nick debated. "If you held up a piece of paper and threw a rock at it, the paper would tear, wouldn't it?"
"Let it go, Nick. You already paid for it," Joe shrugged complacently, "No use getting so worked up over it NOW."
"You're right," he agreed. "We should be getting on to REAL business. TO 'FULLY BOOKED' WE GO!"
"Why?" Joe blinked.
"That brunette you met at 'Starbucks' seems like the type who likes books," Kevin explained, "So that means YOU need to read up."
"Why does it have to be HER?" Joe crossed his arms, his voice slightly acidic, "You saw the way she reacted. She was obviously NOT interested."
An awkward silence filled the air.
"Guys...?" Joe had a feeling.
Kevin was cracking his knuckles, "No girl turns down MY little bro and gets away with it. NOBODY."
"Yeah!" Nick attempted to crack his knuckles as well. Instead of the normal sound, they heard a much louder one. "Um... I seemed to have dislocated something...
.....
"YYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
* * *
"Geez, Nick, of all the dumb things..." Kevin didn't have to finish his statement.
"I haven't cracked my knuckles in a long time," he held his bandaged hand, "What did you expect?"
"For you not to scream like a girl?" Joe chuckled. Kev laughed.
Joe, Kevin, and Nick had been lingering in the enormous bookstore for more than half an hour already. Joe couldn't decide on what book to buy.
"Joe, just pick a book and let's get out of here...? Kevin stomped his foot grumpily.
"Aw, don't be like that, Kev," Nick patted him in the back.
"Guys, I'm going to the 'Fiction' section, OK?" Joe told them. But he saw that the two were deeply engrossed in what looked like a "stare-off."
Joe shrugged and left. There was a seemingly endless number of shelves under the "Fiction" section. What was he to do? He sighed and wandered off into the "Children" section of the store. As he passed, he chanced upon a Dr. Seuss book: "Green Eggs and Ham."
"Hey, I remember this book," he said aloud and reached for the book.
Joe's hand unexpectedly met with another. Both hands retracted.
"Sorry," both said in unison.
The two looked up at each other. Once again, Joe Jonas met with Demi Lovato.
Haha Nick and his knuckles
