The struggle against the evil awaiting you is gigantic. The fire power at your disposal is mega but the price of failure is total annihilation. Battle through the five worlds of darkness against awesome monsters, hidden rooms but keep half an eye open for the unexpected. The world of Turrican is very dangerous but exciting.

Super Turrican was only released in Europe in 1993 by Imagineer Co. Ltd. The game is based on few levels of Turrican 1 & 2. Super Turrican was developed entirely by Manfred Trenz alone, a well known software developer from Germany, responsible for many classic games, mostly C64 ones and the father of Turrican. Another interesting thing about the game I found out during the gameplay recording is that the game is running on NTSC consoles with the exact same speed as on PAL consoles. It's possibly the only NES game to feature this ability.

After doing some research (lol) I heard that the game was planned to be released by Kemco (like the SNES game) instead of Imagineer Co. Ltd.

  • I remember when i would beat the game at hardest difficult, but now when i try it i cant even get past first level :D

  • @Eehha Beaten on hardest difficulty setting? You've earned my respect.

  • Actually, the music is playing at the exact same tempo as on a PAL NES, but the pitches are about a 1/2-step higher.

    Normally when you play a PAL game on an NTSC NES, not only does the pitch go up, but so does the tempo.

  • @Teraforce88 After hearing both versions (PAL & NTSC) again, you're right. I completely missed that.

    And yes, I know about the tempo and pitch changes...

  • i rented this as a kid and hell, it was so much kick ass, but hard as shit!!

  • I absolutely love Turrican! But imagine what his game coulda been on a Sega Master System or a Game Gear......

  • @Teraforce88 Cool, I had just recently been learning about games that can detect which system they're being played on and adjust certain aspects to compensate, but typically only the music speed because that's the most noticeable.

  • @ss4cypher :3

  • @Hardstylerocka ;__; yes,yes it is ;__;

  • @ss4cypher Yes. The speed is assrapetastic.
