A step by step guide showing how to convert a smartdrive washing machine into a pelton wheel dc generator making 780 watts, the power is fed into a small battery bank & inverter - generating enough power to live off the grid. All you need is a head of water. I am using water from my stream to spin the turbine.

Your great, it's people like you that create American pride, truly I am impressed--but your water bill must be sky high.

I guess that means you get the water from the stream right ???

If that be the case, how do you pressurize the water to give you a jet like that ??

Yes, I divert a small part of the stream to run the turbine, the difference in height between the water intake & the jet creates the pressure in the pipe - gravity

Thanks, you have obviously spent a lot of time on your project. Your lucky you get the drives for free they are actually very hard to come by here,we imported ours. Do you have any thoughts on a simple preferably home made controller, our turbine spikes @ over 17 volts in strong gusts.

I use a 24vdc analogue, 8 output plc for controlling everything, you can pick one up on trade me for under $200. Using an input from the bat bank, you can set it to intermittently switch on an inverter powered 240vac water heating element when the batteries are charged, when the water gets up to temp & the thermostat cuts out, plc output #2 switches on a 240v heater or some other dump load. You can also control high & low voltage alarms, charge a 2nd bank etc all with the same plc.

Um, no, not quite. Pump storage systems generate electricity during the day using the water flowing from top reservoir to bottom, but all of the converted electrical energy is fed into the grid to supply the high daily demand. At night, when demand is low, the pumps use electrical energy FROM the grid in order to refill the top reservoir. They are not self-powered. Again, this would be against the laws of physics!

Can you explain how this can be done with another make like GE in general terms?

It would be very nk of a revolving perpetual water system that runs on its own but but refills on its self through gravity.

    Thank you

    Also can you

    Thank you
