These people may use different tricks and techniques, they may speak different languages, but they all have something in common — making money by exploiting peoples trust.

The first and the biggest Russian financial pyramid appeared in the early 1990s when Sergey Mavrodi, a good economist and well-educated men, founded the MMM joint-stock company. He promised big profits to his so-called partners millions of common people. Unfortunately, that pyramid scheme had a short life

  • valuable information you got here

  • I know what it is too. People suck. Most of the people you meet are probably very fine people. Some beat their kids and cheat on their taxes, but it doesn't take a large segment of the population to be one of these pieces of subhuman excrement. If it's your mission in life to screw your fellow man, you're a piece of shit. It's that simple. I don't care whether you're building too much profit into a car that you're the salesman of at some sleazy dealer or swiping someone's tip off a table.

  • cheated investors wanted him to be released. Are they crazy?

  • @BernieMadoffCenter - If you're "concerned", you're not going to be taken seriously with a ridiculous analogy equating Bernie Madoff, was was just a common financial criminal, and Khodorkovsky, who is a political prisoner.

    Try another analogy.

  • @averageworkinggal I understand that criticism is difficult for insular US nationalists to handle, but if making me into Russia's answer to Fox Mulder helps you feel better, go ahead. Wild theories make you feel better about yourself. Meanwhile, the rest of us remain concerned about America's slide. I hope you've been able to preserve your job as a WalMart greeter as America's economy sags.

  • @BernieMadoffCenter - you just proved that you're an FSB disinformation agent with that silly rant.

Madoff and Khodorkovsky have nothing in common.

The big bankers paid back all the "obscene bailout" TARP funds with interest.

The US has made a $14.6B profit on the "banker bailout" so far.

You're clearly not civilized since you're ignorant of the very real benefit against tyranny that the Electoral College provides.

It provides protection to states with small populations.

  • @averageworkinggal I am appalled but unsurprised by your ad hominem attacks and failure to understand the strong similarities in the cases of Mr Madoff and Mr Khodorkovsky. Your American nationalist perspective doesn't wash. Washington is rolling back any attempts at building genuine democracy. From lining the pockets of bankers with obscene bailouts to censoring the popular vote with the electoral college apparatus, the civilized world remains aghast at America's descent.

  • @BernieMadoffCenter - "Washington" is Obama and I voted against Obama, so I'm definitely not his stooge.

    You're clearly the "stooge."

The trial of Madoff was hardly a "show trial"

Madoff ran a "fund" that was a ponzi scheme and when the economy fell, the ponzi scheme was exposed. Madff was as guilty as it gets.

You must be a FSB disinformation stooge trying to smear "Open Mike" Khodorkovsky.

Open Mike was railroaded by Pootie-Poot because he was a

    anti-'Putin System'-autocracy political rival.

  • @averageworkinggal Comedy act? Hardly. Washington stooges like you are all over the net, paid pawns of a brutal regime that seeks to suppress human rights and democracy. It is just sad that humanistic heroes like Bernie Madoff and Mikhail Khodorkovsky are crushed by your system.

  • @BernieMadoffCenter - FYI, your comedy act bombed.

Bernie Madoff did do a very valuable public service by showing just how incompetent government financial regulators are and that no investor should ever relax his due diligence assuming that he was covered by the regulators.
