@jacksawild thats simply because people give more importance to development frameworks and methodologies and people dont necessarily give importance to testing.. its often a neglected and overlooked art which needs standardisation and some thing more than just black box testing (which is very subjective) Master Application. a more comprehensive testing technology and intelligent mechanism which re-engineers the tests.

@JABJABRIGHTCROSS Yes, I agree. Model based testing still requires a bespoke solution. In the time that it takes this is probably equivalent to old fashioned human testing->redesign->human testing methodology. I do think it should be possible to build applications with defined ranges of input which can then be automatically stress tested by a one-size fits all algorithm. It still seems a fair way off, though :(

@jacksawild whole point is to reduce the effort with the given that the efficiency is alright. but i am afraid model testing takes a lot of effort for the same efficiency of testing.

His work on event driven gui testing is fascinating and worth a fortune to whomever gets it to the point of reducing the testing efforts of development houses. Human testers will still be needed for the forseeable future, just for that head tilt he mentioned. It is amazing that guis have been around for twenty years in the mainstream and our testing methods are still like using a hammer to nail in a screw. I've been reading his papers, and those of his students recently. It is worth more work.

i liked the idea where you generated the state machine diagram, used it as a graph and applied DFS to get the possible scenarios. now thats out of the box thinking...

Excellent presentation!
I like the approach of having the tool to help create the model, however I do see that we are not quite there yet.
There have been several open source and commercial tools on the market including Conformiq and TestOptimal. I am not familiar with Conformiq. TestOptimal tests web applications and also does stress / load testing too.
