UPDATE 6/20/2011: For newer releases of 3D Ripper DX, go to http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm. The newer releases have support for newer versions of 3DS Max and Maya.

NOTE: I did NOT make any of this software!

Here is how I extracted and rendered Sora from the KH2 disk. If you want to do this make sure that you read the whole thing first.

1. Download kh2dump from http://www.mediafire.com/?ymgq3g4tgmo

2. Open NotePad and type this...
KH2Dump X:/KH2
(Change X to the drive letter that the Kh2 Disk is in.) Now save it as kh2dump.bat Make sure that the bat file is in the same folder that you downloaded the extractor.

3. Run the bat file and wait for a bit (It will make a bout 700mb+ of files).

4. Download and extract ModelViewerWXD3D9_0.3.rar from
http://www.mediafire.com/?w10mvzzzjjj

5. Download and install 3D Ripper DX from http://www.mediafire.com/?yrdjewyhtmj

6. Run 3D Ripper DX and select ModelViewerWXD3D9.exe from the folder that you extracted it to.

7. When the viewer opens select a model to view (IMPORTANT: Make sure that you tell it to load KH2 models from the dropdown box when selecting a model.)

8. Press F12 when the model is loaded (This will capture the model into a file)

9. Open 3DS Max and go to File - Import (Sorry but I can't help you get this program, it is NOT free.)

10. YOU'RE DONE.

  • Man I remember looking into this before, but for PC games and I found two REALLY good forums where you could request a game to have its models ripped for you, regardless of what console, or on PC. Problem is, that since then, I formatted and forgot to backup my bookmarks, so ALL my obscure sites and forums are gone forever. Anybody know any good forums for this topic? Maybe its best to PM me, I dont know if its cool to mention these kinda sites in public lol!

  • @ncshuriken xentax.com's forums are a great resource for information on extracting models, images, sound, music, script, etc. from a bunch of games. They've even figured out how to extract level models from KH and there working on importing model animations for characters!

  • @wesless hello im just a brawl hacker i wondering can i ask you to make a Klonoa 2 Dump.exe :(

  • @jellyfishjosh2 I remember seeing a blog post by someone that showed a work in progress file dumper for Klonoa 2. I don't think he ever finished it and I can't find a link to it anymore! :(

  • Hey I think I downloaded your Sora rip from a 3D model blog! great work man!

I wanted to ask though, is it possible to retain the textures and model quality (LOD or polygon levels or whatever)? I dont have kingdom hearts, but do you know any sites I can download rippers and viewers for other games? Particularly Tenchu 3 & 4, or just ANY other games? Is it only possible to work with KH with all of these utilities? I have 3DS 2011 BTW. Im new at console ripping so I dont know jack about it! sorry

  • @ncshuriken ps23dformat.wikispaces.c0/\/\ has a whole lot of scripts for extracting models from various PS2 games, even obscure ones. Also xentax.c0/\/\'s forums have some good resources for extracting models and other parts of games, like sound, scripts, movies, levels, etc.

  • Soras eyes scared me

  • could i put sora on games on psp?

  • Quick question: Could these rip Models be used in Blender?

  • @ncshuriken

Oh, forget it, its not what I thought. I'm trying to find a tool that lets you extract the BIN files from PS2 DVD, but that site just has tools to make the size of a PS2 game smaller, so a different kind of rip...
