  • That's not reverse sneezing.....he should see a vet ASAP

  • my dog has the same problem....is he getting better now?

  • Sounds more like hiccups - bless the little chap!

  • I had a bull dog who used to 'reverse sneeze', sometimes for no reason at all, or if he went for a walk, / got too excited. during a walk, he started, so we tried to calm him down. He got progressively worse and we rushed him to the vet ER. He passed away in minutes from heart failure.. He was only 2.5 yrs old. :( It was years ago and I'm still very sad about it. I wish I had known more about this, or how serious of a condition it can be.

  • My pom, who is 12 years old, does coughing like his which sounds like is trying to clear his airway. However, his is so constant and has to take medicine to give him daily relief. He has a pill that he takes twice a day and then a backup - if it gets bad. I have been told that it is common in poms - especially older poms. Something about a collasped trachea - because the tracheas are so small. It sounds awful and it comes on - when you pick him up wrong or he turns wrong, etc.

  • I'm a vet tech and my 2 year old Pom does the same thing. Reverse sneezing sounds different in most dogs. My dog does loud raspy inward breaths and then honks and looks likes he's coughing something up. It's just his way of trying to clear his airway again.

You should take him to the vet just to be absolutely sure that it isn't allergies that could be treated, but with brachycephalic breeds like bulldogs the soft palate is already pushed back so reverse sneeze is likely to be the culprit here.

  • not reverse sneeze. a reverse sneeze is a snorting sound. you dog is horking something up. You can tell cause he smacks his mouth.

  • hes about to throw up

  • Nah... thats definitely a bulldog doing a reverse sneeze. Its not kennel cough...lol.

  • my dog louie always does that when he eats his food too fast
