Mulepick, I agree with you - that's the version I remember - the empty streets - in German - does anyone have the 1968 version? And like a lot of you, this was my first exposure to the song!

It has been a million years but my recollection is also that the spot ended with the fellow saying "On Broadway...". I also remember him being in a sort of "interrogation" light and speaking in German. If there is another version, I would sure like to see it.

Spiritgumm--THAT"S MY MEMORY too--and I remember the ad ending with the start of the record "On Broadway." We could just be too old to rembember straight...or maybe there was another version

Great to finally find this - I was looking under "Voice of America" for years. My childhood recollection (apparently false) was of this in black & white, with Peter walking thru empty, early morning streets, and it was longer. Seemed more ominous in my memory. I probably conflated it with "Last Man on Earth" (Vincent Price).

Wow, I have seen this since I was like 10 years old! How do you find this stuff?

ive found it, what a old great commercial.

Ekecs Géza worked for Radio Free Europe Hungarian Desk under the pseudonym László Cseke. He was the editor of the programs called "Teenager Party", "Délutáni randevú" and "Revolving Stage" (Forgószínpad).
Could you write in the title his name too? Many Hungarians would be happy to watch this video. Thank you!

Ez hihetetlen,ez a Cseke,vajon mikor készült a felvétel?
Ooh, Cseke Laszlo! I remember this voice very well too, those good old days of Radio Free Europe. Didn't understand no word hungarian, but never mind! I was eddicted to the music, Teenager party, Dèlutàni randevu. Listened every day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Lived in the former G.D.R. this time R.F.E. was the only radio station that played such good music. A late and great THANK YOU !!!

That's Sandy Becker narrating this Radio Free Europe PSA, first shown in 1968; this is the "revised" version, with an updated address for "1973".
