El Enmascarado de Latex (El Tri)

To many Mexican-Americans of my generation Mana, Caifanes & Cafe Tacuba in the late '80s were the "first / pioneer" Mexican rock bands. In reality, Mexican Rock's roots go back to the late 1950's with Alberto Vazquez, Los Teen Tops and other such pop rock bands. It continued its evolution to hard rock in the 60's & by the early 1970's there were 1,000s of hard rock bands... some of them excellent and still command cult status (El Ritual etc.)

El Tri is Mexico's most iconic Rock Band... existing in some for or another since 1968... Alex Lora & gang have been rocking continously for 40 years and they show no signs of stopping any time soon.

The beauty of the Mexican music scene is that it is still far enough from MTV & the Pop Label marketing machines that a band like El Tri can hold such a classic Rock Blues style and keep writing new music & recording new albums year after year.
