I have nothing against them .. It was very common in the 1950 's .. I remembered when I was a teenager I listened to my friend 's stories .. It was interested .. Back in the 50 's SSI hadn't created yet .. AlsoThey had no job @ that time .. Most companies were not willing to hire deaf to work .. What would they do for a living .. So they had to sell the ABC cards for their living .. I understood competely .. Today Some people still do .. I don't mind at all .. They have their own life .. : )

I agree with you 100% I have seen many HEARING peddlers selling things for their livings. Do they turn against them? Of course not! Why do Deaf people turn against the Deaf peddlers who are working so hard to support their livings and they do not commit a crime. There are some vendor licenses available to the Deaf peddlers to get in British Columbia. Your discussion is great!

@FookemBug , well... I have seen few Deaf that sell ASL card and Back of the card asking on the pre-cued card. OH well, teaching the Homeless to find a job, it would be nice, but I have seen many Hearing can be deciving two Faces, wether he is homeless or have home single or family...Is that something. I never seen Deaf peope do that but Hearing...is that Ironic?

@FookemBug Yep. Still equates to pan-handling, and someone without a sense of shame would have to take up the practice.
Thank you

Deafpeddling is equal to panhandling in my opinion. One doing that is preying on the pity of others for money--I once gave a deaf peddler 5 dollars for a poorly printed sign language paper. It's asking people for money...asking people for money.

Fookembug, it is not 1950's. I am talking about present and still today as of 2010 and 2011 and continue. However, it has not change one bit. We still need to educated to Deaf Pedders not to use ABC card, but use other kind of product, one thing pre-cued card on the back saying about Deaf not able to find job and asking for help. Remove that Pre-cued card too..well, it still today...

Not only Deaf people are doing this, I have seen some hearing people who act like deaf try to sell ABC card, too.
Off the point, do we have to teach homeless people to find a job?

HI, speaking of Deaf Pedders. it is against the law to be pedders in such as ABC Sign Language for a dollar or so. How do Hearing view us if we are Deaf pedders, they would view us as pity because we are Deaf and unable to get a jobs. we dont need their Pity. it has to stop Deaf pedders and tell them use the products, not ABC Card of Sign Language.

Like I told everyone else that I talked about 1950's, not today. Get it?
