Just shows you don't have to be a gear snob. Awesome stuff!

@bullsharkreef There are a number of reasons as to why a filter is may be preferred over a tube setup. One of which is light loss, since the farther away your lens is, the less light actually hits the film/digital sensor.
-
Why this over an extension tube?
It just seems to me an extension tube is lighter as it contains no glass, doesn't risk degrading the image since, again, it contains no glass and it's probably cheaper too.

@redpuce2 hes shooting in bright day light where the shutter speed is usually higher than 1/500 secs to begin with. You wudnt wana shoot flowers in dark and even if so, you'll need a flash/strobe to compensate the visibility and a higher shutter speed for the correct exposure. Your factoid is not plausible unless some one recently came to know what a camera does and how it does it.

Great tip!! Thanx for posting! Cheers :)

It's so easy a Caveman can do it.

@redpuce2 Errr, no. A close-up lens will not decrease the light by any appreciable amount.

@TheMacShake G'morning, sunshine... you must have taken a serious fall off that turnip truck - it knocked out cold.
-
Its a great idea but he does leave out one little factoid. It decreases the light so one would need to increase aperature or ISO or decrease the speed or some combination thereof.

were can you go about buying one of these ?
