Whatever the name (Βυζάντιον, Roma Constantinopolitana, Alma Roma, Miklagård, Κωνσταντινούπολις, Βασιλέως Πόλις, Constantinople, קושטנדינה רבתי, Konstantiniyye, Царьград, Istanbul...), centuries after its political heyday and commercial golden age, the Queen of Cities (Βασιλὶς τῶν πόλεων) still serves as an eternal focal point of humanity's historical, cultural, artistic and architectural heritage. The uploaded section is part of the 10 minutes long e-documentary called 'The Legendary Capital: From Byzantion to Istanbul' prepared for the introduction of the 2010 European Cultural Capital celebrations. The entire documentary is available at the Sabanci Museum in Istanbul and I strongly recommend it for everyone interested in the centuries-long evolution and transformation of the City. This video has been uploaded to youtube solely for educational purposes and its copyrights are retained by the producers cited at the end of the movie. Enjoy!
