My 2 1/2 yr old Carolina Dog/ American Dingo eating her Raw Turkey leg dinner. She gives the pup a few warning snarls and growls for getting too close! Hailey was found in the wild so she eats only raw meat. CDAD's are thought to be related to the AU Dingo.

  • One other thing.. what do you use to clean the floor? You said "antibacterial" but didn't really specify. It's it a product like Lysol or something that could be really bad in the long run for your dog. You could just use a solution of 50/50 water and vinegar (white or apple cider) with a squirt of fresh lemon.

  • I use just a general antibacterial cleaner and then rinse the floor. And just curious, what is your source that says this is bad for the long run of the dog?

  • Pretty good video, but does Hailey get any other organs besides the pancreas you mentioned? Also, what do you mean Hailey is a "primitive" dog. I would think a Carolina is just as evolved as any other dog breed. I don't mean to sound rude, just curious.

  • She sure does. She gets heart, pancreas, and liver-- all from different animals (cow, chicken, turkey) . Hailey is a primitive dog, meaning that they have not changed much since they diverved from the same common ancestor that the AU dingo has. While they may be recognized as a dog breed currently, my graduate work is attempting to discover if they deserve their own taxonomic status. I'm in a conservation biology program studying the CD, so this is my "source".

  • Listen real close and you can hear the very low growls from Hailey when the pup gets too close, watch for the snarls through the baby gate.

  • @nikomkvli171 whole prey is a good idea too if its available. since i raise a few of my own (ducks, bunnies, chickens,) i am able to provide these for the animals. even the ferrets eat raw :)

  • Hello! My CD (Cooter)eats raw also. I cut the meat up into smaller pieces even the larger chicken/turkey bones. I also add a small amount of pureed veggies. the smaller pieces keeps the mess smaller! He also gets larger beef bones 1-3 per week. His stance when eating is much like your Hailey. we dont have any other dogs right now but he will also let me take his food from him.

Hailey is gorgeous! Where did she come from? Cooter came from Jane Gunnell.

  • @nikomkvli171 I don't have a specific source I guess, it's just common sense that something that contains ammonia, bleach or other harsh chemicals wouldn't be good your dog if it comes into contact with his food. Any living thing shouldn't be ingesting that kind of stuff.

  • @AmericanDingoLuvR Heart is considered muscle meat, not organ meat (same with gizzards.. many people confuse these as part of the organ requirement). Your dog would probably benefit from a wider variety of organs (kidney, lung, brain, spleen). Sorry don't mean to criticize, just to pass on advice if you wish to take it. Interesting tidbit about the primitive statement though.

  • Sooo does your other pup eat raw too or only the American Dingo? I think even none wild dogs do very well on raw. Your other pup is begging to have the same tasty morsels.

  • lmao thats my sister :)
