CHESTNUT HILL -- Trailing 24-7 in the fourth quarter, Boston College fell just short in their comeback bid as Maryland came away with a 24-21 win at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Montel Harris had a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown runs to pull BC within three points but BC (2-5, 0-4 ACC) couldn't convert on their next two possession and suffered their fifth straight loss, their longest losing streak since losing six straight in 1998.
Harris finished with 116 yards on 27 carries and moved into fourth place on BC's all-time rushing list with 3,051 yards, passing Andre Callender and William Green on the afternoon.
Boston College lost a pair of defensive captains to injury, with the most serious being a neck injury to safety Wes Davis late in the third quarter. The game was stopped for 10 minutes while he was immobilized and lifted onto a stretcher. He had movement in all extremities and was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for further evaluation. All-ACC defensive end Alex Albright left with a right ankle injury in the first quarter and did not return.
Danny O'Brien threw three touchdown passes, helping Maryland (5-2, 2-1 ACC) build a 17-point second-half lead.
