@pnutbutrncrackers He'd had problems before this fight with dizziness after the J J fight. Also he might have picked up some damage from sparring with Tommy Hearns @ the Kronk gym.

@norfolknchance100 nigel gregory benn went visiting him,and invited g man to a fundraiser in london! tut, tut.facts my friend ;) ps he`s also not deaf and doesnt live in a caravan,he lives in the house he bought with his first pay cheque in freeport.

@iwestbury i agree with everything you have written friend, one of the greatest fights i ever watched,a sad outcome but they both new what they were getting into,i'v had the honour of shaking nigel's hand twice,he is a very kind and humble man,one of a few people i respect immensely.

In my opinion the best fight ive ever seen, even beats chevez pernal whitaker fight,,Apart from the outcome of the G man which was tragic and yet the boxing world forgets him,He now lives ai a Caravan Blind and Deaf.He hasnt been visited by one Boxer Roy Jones gave half his pursefrom a fight to McClellan,Thats a crying shame For Brutality it was as Brutal as they get and the courage of Benn But Boxing has let its own people down by forgetting there own supposed to be a noble sport

Sorry, I inadvertently added an extra "d" to MeClellan's name.

To me McClelland has seemed almost inexplicably groggy in his movements since about the 2nd round, and I've asked if it's possible that he was beginning to experience mental processing problems BEFORE the fight's close. I've read that he had complained of dizziness before, and you've got to wonder. Not sure he really seems himself. (Not to take away from Benn's courageous performance.)

Amazing fight, two guy's going at it full tilt, but show's the real danger's of the sport. When you see McClellan's interview on CNN,you can't help but feel for him.

Early in (3:12 in video) 5th round McClellan starts pushing the gumshield right out his mouth inidicating start of serious problems. The commentators pick up on it later in the round.

@mudman1881 at last a man with a brain your bang on what a crap ref it prob saved gerald
I agree with a lot of the comments here. I remember watching this fight on TV and worrying about Benn' s chances. The guy was knocked down badly a couple of times and still came back to win. Talk about heart and guts. Don't forget that McClellan's subsequent problems sparked a medical revolution in post KO care in boxing. Good luck to McClennan in the future..... If I ever met Nigel Benn I'd like to shake the hand of one of the gutsiest fighter I've ever seen.
