Kenaith had "plucked" the net at the end of a previous game in this match - earning himself a yellow card. He then throws his racket after his opponent gets a "net ball" that causes him to miss. Some people seem to think the umpire blew the call and that Keinath accidentally hit the table with his racket which caused it to fly from his hand. This video shows clearly that the racket was tossed.

We can certainly debate whether or not the umpire should have given a red card due to a second violation which automatically means the loss of a point. And, of course, we see Keinath immediately apologizing. Makes sense. He is surely aware that a second violation means the loss of a point. Begging forgiveness was the right thing to do. Unfortunately it wasn't sufficient to avoid the red card.

Minor infractions like this are open to judgment. But it remains that Keinath did throw the racket and the umpire got that part right.

The crowd booed the umpire, but Keinath is a crowd-pleasing and very entertaining player. And I wouldn't be surprised if many in the audience missed the previous minor offense.

  • Nope. No spuds. It was recorded with a Panasonic GH1 at 720p while standing on the tongue (approx 2" steel tubes) of the hitch that is used to tow the bleachers. It was then slowed down and scaled up to provide a close-up of Keinath's toss using some freeware app. I forget which one. I recorded most of the match and it is available elsewhere on this channel. But the video is shaky. It's hard to handhold a camera steady for long periods of time.

  • What was this recorded with, a potato?

  • @LookB3hindU Actuially he is entertaining to watch. He looks like a retard floping around with his paddle...LOL!

  • I don't find him entertaining at all. He's got the worst technique to try and duplicate and he is always standing up. He's extremely talented when it comes to tactics and perhaps service, but there is nothing entertaining about watching him play. I just shake my head when I hear he's won another U.S. Open. Shame on us.

  • Hahah cant
