Dr. George McLaughlin, clinical associate professor in the Restorative Dentistry Department at UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School, recalls his participation in the historic 1960 student sit-ins at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina, where African-Americans had been refused service. His talk at UMDNJ marks the 50th anniversary of the sit-in, which is now considered one of the major events in the history of the civil rights movement.

  • Hey Uncle George

  • The UMDNJ African American Heritage Committee was honored to host this occasion that provided this rich presentation and subsequent dialogue with the university and community. Thank you Dr. McLaughlin for bringing meaning to those events that shaped our current society and your insight to what is happening today. Dr. McLaughlin is an asset to our state, our community and UMDNJ. We thank you!
