A Confederacy of Dunces
By John Kennedy Toole, Adapted and Directed by Mary Machala
September 16 October 11, 2009
Center House Theatre, Seattle Center

Tooles Pulitzer Prize-winning cult classic is a masterpiece of the southern literary canon. In this grand tragicomic farce our hero—of epic proportions—is the slothful Ignatius J. Reilly: writer, cultural critic, bastion of morality, advocate for the disenfranchised, eater of hot dogs, and nemesis of industry. His grudging ventures into the working world to support his despairing mother bring him face to face with a kaleidoscopic cast of Big Easy characters in this hilarious comedy.

  • @bagelsandstuff I may just have to keep this on repeat it's so awful

  • I don't know why but I've always heard Ignatius in my head as a particularly pompous Englishman - I know that is silly as he is clearly from New Orleans. I just find it hard to watch him talking with an American Accent after hearing him as an Englishman every time I've read the book (currently about 50 times - I love it!)

  • @Vollsticks - so tell us who would do a good job then...

  • @Soshize Would he fuck. Veneration of idiots like Zach Galifianakis is at the very root of our current dilemna.

  • This is nothing. You should hear Eddie Money sometime.

You should'a called it PERVIEW. Then I would'a watched it.

  • PLEASE CHECK OUT MY SEQUEL TO THIS NOVEL NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE ON AMAZON. THE BOOK IS CALLED "AN ARMY OF IDIOTS". By Austin Teutsch. It's a hoot, too.

  • I would love to see this production (as long as John "Spud" McConnell isn't playing Ignatious).

  • The guy playing Ignatius is seriously over acting

  • @Soshize

    That would be awesome
