Have you ever been to Panama City, Panama? I swear most of the floats-om and flots-om must end up on their shore.

A lot of it comes from land I think. Spend some time at a shoreline park and watch the plastic bags, styrofoam cooler lids etc. blow away out to sea. Of course ships dump trash overboard in international waters too. We were careful to limit plastic wrapping and containers aboard and carried them to shore for disposal.

That's a real shame. If people insist on dumping waste at sea, at least tie something heavy to it so it doesn't litter the pristine surface.

There's a HUGE patch of junk in the pacific. You likely only seen a small bit of it. The worse part is, no plans to clean it up and no plans to try to prevent it.

Trash in middle of the ocean. That IS depressing. I read "Adrift" many years ago and he talked about worrying about his life raft getting tangled up in the fishing line and junk floating around. Just sad.
