well I should say different ppl have different taste. One thing about SRV is when he plays any song you'll know is him even if he did covers you'll know is SRV still. For bugs his tone is kind of more warmer than that of SRV, SRV is sharper and more rhythmic I should say. Bugs playing do remind me of Joe Walsh though haha.
But my fav blues player so far is still SRV :P I like him more than Clapton and hendrix. It's a matter of taste I guess

In a Guitar World magazine article, the interviewer asked SRV about great Texas guitar players and the first thing he said was, "well, there's Bugs Henderson."

As far as him transcending his influences, you are so totally wrong on that level. If you dont think SRV took Albert King, Buddy Guy, Humbert Sumlin, Otis Rush etc, and went far ahead of them your thinking is off. About the only influence he never transcended was Clapton, and thats about it. Ask any good blues player worth his salt(and there arent many left)who the top 3 blues/rock guitarist of all time are, and the list will be in this order Hendrix, Clapton, Vaughan.

In spite of what people believe, SRV was not God, and he never transcended his influences. You can puke all you want, it's your stomach. I still think Bugs deserves as much respect.

dont make me puke. I go way back with bugs, back to the cellar in Dallas. Bugs is great but not the same level as SRV. If you knew anything, you'd know that!

Solid as a rock. Keep 'em coming! I'm a DFW native relocated to Florida who only sees Bugs when I visit home.

I always wonder why SRV got all the press when Bugs is a far more versatile/tasteful player.
