@movienotes I believe Charles was on Broadway appearing in Neil Simon's "God's Favorite". In 1976 he directed Julie Harris in "The Belle of Amherst"

@pixi2nv This I do know...Charles left Match Game briefly to go to New York to be in a broadway play...GSN is currently airing Match Game '75 and I'm waiting for the episode when he returns with the bird Harry.

It's mentioned in another clip I might have posted, regarding what Charles will be dressed as for Halloween. Gene mentions that Charles is going to New York to do rehearsals for a play. Not sure if that means it was on Broadway, or what the title of the play was, but he was on hiatus for that reason.
