Abecedarians were a post-punk group from LA that enjoyed modest success in the mid-80's. With their moody guitar riffs and vocals, they pioneered a sound that was vastly different from the prevailing dance and synth-pop MTV environment. This is a group that should have been huge.

  • Thank you for the exciting update.

  • What a very cool music! Why doesn't anybody know these guys?

  • That's a good question. They should have enjoyed a lot more success.

  • With the kind of music they made they at least should have been famous in the UK. It's great new wave!

  • They had one recording for Factory music and that was all. I guess we'll never know why they weren't promoted properly.

  • I caught this band in 1988 at first ave in mlps they play the video for soil and I loved the sound of heavy reverb and deep bass, gothlike

  • I'm currently in contact with Chris Manecke and Kevin Dolan and 2012 promises to be a great year for Abecedarians fans as their songs may become available once again in vinyl repressings, CD format and digital downloads. This is all exciting and happening pretty fast. Chris Manecke has written new songs and hopes to jam in public soon.

  • Eight string bass was soooo much fun to play!

  • Their album was released on Caroline, who has released some very popular artists also. It was probably wrong time, wrong place, but however we can still enjoy their music. I'd like to have the album AB-CD on cd but it's hard to get. All I have now is the songs you added to youtube. I recorded them and converted them to mp3 :) Thanks again, and I hope you add some more tracks if you can!
