Former Labor Secretary and current U.C. Berkeley professor Robert Reich gives a teach-in at Occupy SF on Oct. 19, 2011 in San Francisco's Justin Herman Plaza.
50:17 - Laws against concepts like "disorderly conduct" should be declared strictly unconstitutional. There are only two ways that they're ever enforced - silencing dissent or otherwise anything harmless that society frowns upon(like profanity, raised voices, etc.), and trumping up charges against people that the police and district attorneys are frustrated by when they feel that the real charges aren't enough to accomplish their agenda.
@venusbrain I also found that the rich still get richer under regulation. The only major difference in wealth is that that the poor are able to catch up. In the current state of the economy, an individual's wealth is essentially able to buy prosperity regardless of how much wealth anybody else has, so regulation doesn't really limit prosperity. The difference is that the prosperity of others limits the amount of dominance a person has.
13:29 - I've known all about the trickle-down economics lie since I was barely 16 and just becoming politically aware. One of the first things I did in my political awakening was sift through over a hundred years of economic statistics, make graphs, and analyze policies in relation to the changes. What I noticed is that the economy trickles UP without regulation, and only trickles down with strict regulation.
Robert Reich is just pretending to be 99% people??? He`s completely cheating on u, San Franciscans. Wake up!! We do same movement here in Japan. Our government and media also deceive us with biased information. It`s shame...
I'm really glad I found out Robert Reich exists. He's fantastic.

I wish I went to Berkley. It's one of the few universities today that is still a place for social intervention.
