Murrow was not only compelling in his broadcasts, but courageous as well--he would stand on London rooftops to describe the air attacks happening around him. It's amazing that he survived it. That kind of courage was displayed by a lot of foreign correspondents at the time---Walter Cronkite was among many who rode on bombing missions to get a first hand look at the air war, first for United Press and then for CBS.

There are still people living here in the Unithed Kingdom who would have shivers running down their spines and be breaking out into a cold sweat at the sound of those air raid sirens wailing up and down as sirens did throughout the Second World War but people at the time would not have reacted like that as British people by and large were amazingly calm and cheerful as well as very brave. They had no other option if Hitler was to be defeated after his dreadful attacks on THEIR ountry.

this was before the blitz actually started, which was September 7th, however, this is a gem of ww2 history to understand what the blitz was

Wth is a Nigerian naval ensign doing in this video? No other RAF flags?

He had integrity that some networks, dogged down in partisan politics would well do to emulate.
Ed Murrow was a credit to humanity as well as journalism. He told the truth at a time others could not help but lie ( Joe Kennedy for example)

I agree with Candy very eerie indeed and the buses were still running while the bombing was going on!
