Demonstrating spraying potatoes to prevent blight. Potato blight is an airborn fungus disease that first lands on the leaves and from there falls to ground and is washed in to rot the tubers (potatoes). The signs of blight are brown blotched leaves, these should be removed immediately and burnt. If badly affected remove all leaves and stems and burn hoping that it has not reached the tubers. any diseased tubers should also be destroyed. Do not plant potatoes in the same place twice. Spraying with Bordeaux mixture or Dithane as here is a preventative and shojd be done when the temperature has been above 10C and humidity over 75% for more than 48 hours, known as a Smiths period.
