While travelling the western part of Indiana, I stopped to watch an eastbound passing train. Here is some low-available-light video taken with my new Sony DSC-T900 Camera. — This video was captured just after the sun dipped below the horizon. Best viewed in 720p High-Definition. — Because compact cameras like the DSC-T900 use CCDs, they suffer from vertical smearing on extremely bright light sources. In this example, you can see the bright headlight of the oncoming train flooded the entire line of sensors on the CCD. Generally I would avoid this type of shot, but it's a good example of CCD Smear. Had the train showed up an hour earlier, this would not have been an issue :) — I was impressed that the exposure came out as well as it did, considering it was almost dark. The camera compensated for the low light levels and the finished video would have you think there was much more light available. Sony's Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization performed quite well, as I had already put away the tripod and the camera was being hand-held. — Indiana Traveller
My Review of the SONY DSC-T900:
So far, I like this camera and I think it's far better than the reviews would suggest. The lens assembly is internal, so the DSC-T900 doesn't have the traditional pop-out lens assembly that extends when the camera is turned-on (as found on most other compact cameras of this size). Despite having a relatively tiny internal lens assembly, this camera captures excellent images and video! 12MP photos, 720p High Definition Video and Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization makes for one nice little camera! — Indiana Traveller
that's a CCD based camera? wierd...the footage seems to be vibrating a lot, much like a CMOS would in such conditions..w.tf
