Georgian President got acquainted with the ongoing works at Rikoti Pass

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ramaz Nikolaisvhili delivered the report to Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili about ongoing works at Rikoti Pass.

The meeting was attended by the Energy Minister Aleksandre Khetaguri and Shida Kartli Governor Zurab Arsoshvili.

According to report, the special vehicles were sent to the disaster areas for rehabilitations works. The rehabilitation works are underway on 25 points of the Pass. The specialists put pipes in the ground to provide flow of water coming from the rocks threw the pipes and preventing the damaged to the highway in case of flood.

Rescue works are underway in Surami and Khashuri districts as well. Flood has hit districts as a result of heavy rain in the region. The ground floors and cellars of the houses were flooded. The flood also damaged agricultural plots. The poultry and cattle are killed. A special commission will calculate the damage inflicted to region as a result of flood.

President ordered to restore the road urgently for the tourist season and added that it was important to have permanent Schemes for dealing with such problems.
