"Defanging the Snake" is a secret the Filipino Arts have had for years. It is explained here in detail.

  • Defanging the snake is not a secret (as you said in the description), and it is not an end-all-be-all of defense. If you miss, you're wide open, and we're talking about a small fast moving target. And if you don't hit hard enough to break the hand (which is basically what you're going for), all you're really going to do is piss the other guy off.

  • First of all, if you had an Impact Weapon or Edged Weapon, it doesn't take much force. You'd be amazed at how fast you can make someone drop a weapon if you hit them at the right spot with just an average amount of force. Its not about power when it comes to de-fanging the snake: it's about accuracy, speed, timing, and line familiarization. Have someone whack your hand or arm with a crowbar and see if you can keep a hold of your weapon.

  • depends on way too many aspects, where you hit, with what weapon, body shape and size, fat and muscle content etc.

  • Do you happen to know the amount of force a blunt object would need to MAKE a hand drop a weapon?

  • excellent

  • Good job, smart tactic and one that I learned under Vunak as well.
