Climate change is the term used because people have been confusing weather with climate. Climate refers to long term trends as opposed to weather which is a snapshot at a point in time. And no, the world has not been cooling for a decade, particularly at the poles where ozone is thinnest and we've lost a huge amount of ice.

The scientific debate about global warming is over. Just like there are a few folks who will tell you the world is flat, there are a few of non-peer reviewed "scientific" studies that will assert there is no global warming. That "science" is generally funded by corporations who stand to lose if actions to stop climate change are taken. Obviously if they pour enough money into spreading disinformation they are going to sweep up people who don't understand the science, but see it as politics.

Then the cold winters started to break records and they felt stupid calling it only GW--thus back to the drawing board. Climate change covers all bases--if it snows, if it melts , if it heats up if it remains the same, climate change can always be used. See IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on CLIMATE CHANGE) created in 1988, far before Al Gore had anything to do with the public face of climate change. @UpTakeVideo No, they term climate change started to be used because Al Gore was getting embarrased about having his global warming talks cancelled because of the blizzards a few years ago. I used to call it a hoax but my term is the global warming scam. Oh and the only polar bears are risk are the animated ones in Big Al's docufictionary.
