Beethoven is grossly ahead of his time. I always thought of Chopin being the god of piano, but Beethoven is so diverse in his styles that he of tens comes very close, if not better, to Chopin ( in regards to Piano only)

@wawa314159 It's technical challenges are subtle. But they are really crazy that makes this piece a nightmare, like Islamey or Gaspard. Two voices on the same hand with one doing a fast trill simultaneously, the fourths rapid ups and downs, etc.

fourth movement is so beautiful
I found op.101 easier to me than other late work somehow..
but it is different for everyone.
Though, the scores did look very complicated when I first looked at it

Bravo! Thanks for uploading!
Reading score simultaneously while listening, I found Op. 101 is extremely technical-demanding!

Thank you for this! Where did you get this recording? Is it still available somewhere? Some say that op. 101 is the most difficult of the sonatas. Having played it I would agree -- especially with regard to sound, voicing, and the thorny last mvmt. Yes, 106 requires more sheer stamina. But to hear the last mvmt of 101 sound so effortless, lyrical, and transparently clear is breathtaking and astonishing.

Much more exciting performance than those of the "usual Beethoven suspects."
