  • ralph richardson is my hero. john gielgud is my hero's friend.

  • @ATsarIsBorn I wish that I could say "yes" to your question of salvage but I feel very doubtful!! Do people like you or I stil listen to the voice beautiful? Personally I doubt it. Al Pacino's voice is gritty and realistic and of course a magnificent actor. But where today is the voice beautiful in films or elsewhere. If you know please tell me???

  • An interesting comment from Sir Peter Hall who described Sir Laurence Olivier as a great performer but Sir Ralph Richardson as simply being. Gielgud is a wonderful raconteur but after a while his voice seems uninteresting. I believe that Sir Peter Hall's insight into actors is very interesting and significant. Olivier was, for me, a very exciting and daring actor and there were no other actors with the same measure of dramatic intensity and excitement..

  • "The English language -- can it be salvaged?"

  • it was extremely interesting and magnificent.

  • it won't upload
