So this how US Champion match held? With ppl watching around them like that? Where is the prestige and honor for them? C'mon USA, wake up!!

People laughed at Fischer all the time for challenging the playing conditions and rules, but this, on the other extreme, is what happens when you don't. That this result was decided in an Armageddon format is a travesty. Both players should have refused to play. This did neither of them a service, no matter who "won."

@Kallahad I've read a lot about the controversy and there are lots of opinions about whether or not moving before your opponent has hit the clock is legal or not. I've seen reasonable explanations either way, depending on what rules are used . The current USCF blitz rules state that the move is done when the hand leaves the piece, not when the clock is hit. What most seem to agree on is that by walking away without making any protest, Irena Krush gave up any right to challenge the result.

@notmtwain She didnt beat...she stole the championship. She was moving her pieces before Krush hits the clock. This is illegal.

@seattlechessmike Really...she didnt win. She was doing illegal moves, moving her pieces before Krush hits the clock. This is illegal and nasty.
Shame on the USCF for deciding a major event in such farce. Armageddon is not a rated chess format. The default outcome should be a shared first prize, unless both players agree to duke it out in a recognized format [blitz, even bullet] but armageddon is a joke.
