Don Cherry is a singer of traditional pop music and, at one-time, a very high-ranking amateur golfer. He was actually in contention to win the 1960 U.S. Open before eventually finishing in the top five behind Arnold Palmer. He began his career as a band singer in the early 50s, and had his biggest hit in 1955, "Band Of Gold." He is said to be the only person to ever be ranked as a top ten golfer and have a hit record in the top ten in the same week. Other noted hits include "Thinking Of You", "Wild Cherry" and "Vanity". He was also the well-known voice of the "Mr. Clean" commercials during the late 1950s and early 60s. This selection was never released as a single, but was first included in his album "The World Of Don Cherry". The full title of the song is "Pleasing You (As Long As I Live)".
I guess this isn't the same Don Cherry who played trumpet with Ornette Coleman.

Check out his web site doncherry.us He is still singing at 87 years old and sounds as good as ever ever. He recently had a concert in Houston in November 2010 I understand he still hits the driving range and still hits the ball as straight as ever.
What a treasure he is. His wife Francine is responsible for his web site and was on Broadway. She will personally take your your calls about their web site.
