Anyone catch the Gluck Iphegenie en Tauride by the MET a couple of weeks ago? Fantastic!

But the wind came up BEFORE the sacrifice. Perhaps there's no such thing as a god? Deer or Iphigenie, does it matter?

I saw this movie when it was new at an art house in the U.S. I was only nine or 10 years old, but the film stayed with me all these years. I never thought I'd see it again!

This is gorgeous.
This is one of my favourite videos on YouTube. So THANK you! :)
Euripides wrote this play some years after he wrote the Iphigenia in Tauris which is set afterwards (in dramatic time) in which she is reunited with her brother Orestes (the little boy you see here).
This movie does show it but at the end of the play Iphigenia is meant to be saved: the goddess Artimis replaces her with a deer. Like the deer killed at the start of this film! Go figure ;)
