Now I have to watach the razor/scissor demo. that is the only way I know how to do it is with scissors so I am nervous!

@tinajalove Don't be nervous! For the new test, just start your guideline with razors and go up the nape area, follow with scissors. If your haircut is not super blended, you will only lose 2 points for quality for the haircut operation. Don't stress, just section, cut, check; palm you scissors and razors, and always follow your guideline. CUT AN INCH OFF THE HAIR ENDS; NEW REQUIREMENT.

is this still the basic hair cut for ca state board?

@addy831 The only difference for the new state board is that they ask the students to start with the razor and do the razor cut through entire nape area over the occipital bone, then follow with scissors. You still need to have the guideline, palm the scissors and the comb, and do an accurate cut; because the examiner will check your haircut for balance (this is new, they didn't check the haircut before, so a good practice will help)

@MANESHIA2010 You are absolutely correct. The old State Board of California had 2 haircut choices: start with scissors then with razor, or start with razor and next with scissors. The exam book would indicate which one they wanted you to do. But, starting October 3, 2011, the examiner would ask to start with razor and finish with scissors. I do have a razor/scissor haircut demo, too. This video was uploaded 9 months before the new changes at state board.
