2)What new events would you like to initiate and which would you think about discontinuing?
a.Camille: What new events I would initiate: wouldnt really initiate a brand new event because we plan a lot of events and if we add another one it would be burn-out but Im open to new events chosen as a collective, like if CORE comes really strong with a new event then I support it, but I dont have anything in mind at this moment and completely open to new ideas because KP is continuously changing and were not set in what we do next year as long as its backed with good planning. Events I would discontinue, I dont know but personally I dont like Friendship Games however I dont know if it falls within our mission statement as a social space, but we can do with or without Friendship Games. Magkasamathat event can be ever-changing but with established events we have to go back and think why we have those events in the first place because how Magkasama started isnt how Magkasama went down this year.
b.Angie: I second what Camille said about stepping back and wondering why an event started. As far as current events to be discontinued, thats something to be spoken about as a collective. As far as new events, I like planning new events, maybe thats the RA in me, I think its a good chance to explore other options, like this recent RA event called Life that was like the board game Life with the . Took class last year about inequality in education. If people have the passion for the event, then people will be magnetized to that and it would be educational and at the same time if the events we plan are intentional (were listing objectives of what we want out of it) I can say that this event was good especially when it comes to evaluating events. New events would be good by collaborating with the resource centers or other SAAC orgs. A) work with other orgs, B) educate people, C) open doors
c.Camille: If its big events that cost $100,000+ than that might not be a good idea. But If I were to personally do something as far as events go, maybe little workshops with culture events, or with alumni or what to do after undergrad like the Matsuri Festival, holding more API forums, getting in on the know, workshop about utilizing the centers on campus, for example I just learned about TRiO and utilizing centers we dont know about, but if we can change one person, then its one more person than before. Those would eb the events I would plan, not just me or board but KP as a collective, even if GBMers want to plan something, like a ukulele workshop, whatever we see would have the most support, those would be the kind of events I would be down for
d.Angie: Im all for new events, exploring new options and utilizing resource centers we pay for, lots of hidden wealth we dont know about, do freshmen know about that. It explores creativity and foster leadership, which is something I want to do as chair because there is so much potential in fostering leadership, showing the connection with academia, have an event with more depth to it, finally new events would open doors for thinking, we should be asking questions and learning at the very least.
