Valentina, an Odessa tourist guide explain the role of the Catacombs under the city of Odessa, Ukraine during the Second World War.
Odessa underground tunnels (catacombs) were created nearly 200 years ago during mining of building materials that were used to build the city. Currently it is the maze of 2,500 kilometers with hundreds of entrances, exits, caves, and tunnels. During the World War II, in 1941, when German and Romanian army occupied Odessa during the war, the Soviet Military headquarters gave the order to organize the partisan resistance. And Odessa catacombs were chosen as the camp for the unit of partisans. The provisions and weapons was enough there so the unit could stay underground for half a year. The partisan unit was fighting with nazi and Romanian army during all the period of occupation.

Also see this web page: http://odessitclub.org/en/archives/dallin/chapter_6.html#Catacombs : it has fascinating infos about the Odessa catacombs. Plus these two web pages sent to us by Olexa Stomachenko from Kirovograd, Ukraine : http://www.katakomby.odessa.ua/ and http://katakomby.odessa.ua/load/

  • The woman in the video is wrong. Jews did hide in Odessa's catacombs during the WWII. Some of my relatives died there, in catacombs.

i want to get a tour from her :))

  • big part of ukrainians are romanian and russians ukrainians are just a mixture of the two nations but because ukraine was for a long time part of russia they speak russian.

  • I was also born in Odessa, I lived in Derebasovkaya. I went to school by the big toy store (I forgot the streets).

My house on Derebaskovskaya was located next to a night club ... all this was during 1980 to 1992.

  • valentin is hot, great MILF! pekasnake u r 100 % right :D

  • Romania enterede in the WWII because Stalin attacked Romania and killed many people.

BTW- the Ukrainian people genetically are a mix of Slavs about 50% and Romanians=40%.The differences between Romanians and Ukrainians are very small. Romania and a big part of Ukrania were one country about 2000 years ago, during the reign of king Burebista.

  • I was there too ,I was inside they had every thing organized under ground, and use to receive supplies thru wells, this catacombs are all under the City.

  • I was born in Odessa on Raskidalovskaya in Moldavanka. Went to catacombs with the schools and saw where the partizans were hidding. They had schools for kids, kitchens, etc. Yes it is all true what she said. I miss Odessa, hope to go back one day.
