Ding! Dong! Merrily on High
Choir
The words by G R Woodward (1848-1934) are from the 20th century, while the tune is a 16th century French dance. The carol first appeared in 1924.
The highly entertaining arrangement is by Dr Mack Wilberg, Director of Music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Performed by Kings in 2007

  • That organist is just rockin'! I'm amazed by his performance

  • Love the arrangement. Choir superb. Cleobury really is at the top of his game. Also great to watch and hear a flawless performance by Ben-San Lau on organ. He makes it look so easy even though it isn't. Well done all.

  • I love this song! I don't care what season it is. I don't care what you guys think. Every time I listen to it. I feel cheerful.

  • @Drewnov2003 I think "Oriental" isn't quite politically correct anymore.

  • Jeesh that is some organ playing. Beautiful.

  • one of the tenors looks like my art teacher

  • For any of you interested BBC Radio 2's ''Nigel Ogden: The Organist Entertains' have done a King's special. Includes interview with Cleobury about the Harris organ and how he puts the carol festival together. Senior organ scholar Ben-San Lau also talks a bit about this challenging arrangement of Ding Dong Merrily and how in places the melody is played on pedals. Only on BBC I-player until 27/12/2011. Seasons Greetings and Peace to you all wherever you are.

  • Thanks for this magnificent performance. Exciting organ. Merry Christmas to all.

  • ive always loved this hymn!

  • On the organ solo spot the melody is on the feet!

  • I heard this arrangement from last year and loved it. The organ scholar seems to be an oriental fellow, which is great.
