@Vaylemn No musician starts out needed the most expensive instruments. It's an investment over time. I'm a cellist, and when I first started 16 years ago I rented instruments. Then I paid payments toward a student level cello, and traded that for a higher quality one and the same for my professional quality one now. There is no sure way of knowing you are serious about music for the long hall at the beginning. (But yes, piano's are very expensive but you wouldn't start with a grand piano.)

@Vaylemn I beg to differ- I worked full time at a fast-food restaurant- and saved up for my first cello and lessons. You don't need a largely expensive instrument to be a professional musician.

Only rich people can make a profession out of music. Sigh, if only I had a big home and a grand piano, I would have been playing music at an earlier age, but I grew up in 3rd world conditions.
